Steve Albrecht is a microbiologist at the Columbia Plateau Conservation Research Centre. He received a BA in Chemistry and a BS in Biology from the University of New Mexico in 1969 and an MS degree in biology from the University of New Mexico in 1971. In 1974 he received his doctorate in Microbial Physiology from King's College, University of London (UK). Research Interests:
Effects of soil management on microbial ecology, especially the impact of tillage operations on microbial communities, including their functional and taxonomic diversity, selected metabolic processes interactions with plants.
Effects of soil management on soil microbial activity as it relates to residue decomposition, nutrient cycling, and soil properties, especially soil quality and soil organic matter. Evaluation of soil organic matter components and their development in the soil.
